Doherty bravely talked about her battle with breast cancer, stating in 2015 that she was undergoing treatment. In 2023, she underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor and disclosed that the cancer had spread to her bones. She gained fame for her role in the movie Heathers and became a household name on 90210 as Brenda, a smart student from Minnesota navigating life among wealthy peers.

Doherty shared with People in November 2023 that she is determined to keep living, loving, creating, and making positive changes. She emphasized that she is not finished yet.

Even though she faced challenges, she remained committed to keep working. “Some people think that having a disability means you can’t walk, eat, or work. They think you’re too old to keep going, but we’re not,” she explained. “We’re full of life, with a positive attitude. We are individuals who are eager to work, enjoy life, and progress.”

Doherty remained a symbol of resilience and courage.

Prior to her death, the actress from Charmed worked to increase awareness and raise money for cancer research, showing that people with terminal cancer, like her, can still make a meaningful impact.

She mentioned that questioning why you got cancer and why it came back can make you search for a greater meaning in life.

Doherty had a stable career and also tried reality TV with the brief series Breaking Up with Shannen Doherty and by competing on Dancing with the Stars.

She reprised her iconic role of Brenda in the TV reboot of Beverly Hills, 90210 in 2019.

Even though she knew about her diagnosis, she chose not to share it with the cast after her co-star Luke Perry passed away in March 2019 at 52.

Her introduction to Hollywood began when she was a young actress on the TV show Little House on the Prairie.

The actress started a podcast called Let’s Be Clear, with the most recent episode coming out on July 8th.

Our deepest condolences for your heartbreaking loss. May she find eternal peace.
